I know – this one sounds a little like asking how many advocates it takes to screw in a lightbulb, right?
Well no. It’s not exactly the same question. But I do have the answer to THAT question below. Don’t peak! Read this post first.
One of the keys to success for any care management or advocacy practice or individual is to be found by the people who need you. Of course, that requires good marketing. And most of good marketing means you and your brand are in the right place at the right time someone goes looking.
The right TIME means you have to be found 24/7/365. And of course, the only right PLACE to do that is on the web.
So, you should always begin with a website that can easily be found, of course.
Social media presence is important, too, because that’s a bit like the online version of word-of-mouth.
But how do people even know to find those places? They know because they find us in directories. When they do searches, most often directories come up at the top of the search. That’s because that’s what directories are built to do. They focus their SEO on being found. (SEO = Search Engine Optimization.)
You and your practice can take advantage of that by listing yourself in a directory that has good SEO / search engine reach. The directory in turn links to YOUR website, and that gives you more “authority” too. All good!
And of course, we know the BEST directory you can list yourself in is the AdvoConnection Directory.
Just One Directory? Or?
I am sometimes asked “OK, but if I am in the AdvoConnection Directory, do I need to list myself in other directories?”
The answer is simple: Need to? No.
But should you? Absolutely! The more exposure you have to the public, the better for them, and for your practice. They’ll find you more quickly. Your practice will be more successful. Kind of a no-brainer.
APHA has put together a list of all the directories we know of. APHA Members can login and take a look. And if you aren’t a member of APHA yet, you can easily check it out by joining!
Hope to see you in all the directories… patients need you!
So – exactly how many advocates does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Just one! Because advocates are superwomen or supermen and will anticipate when that lightbulb needs to changed, and will be at the ready with a new one as soon as it’s needed.
